Current Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) systems struggle with accuracy and efficiency, limiting their use. This stems from insufficient understanding of muscle activation in movements and limitations of existing muscle activity detection methods like sEMG, MRI, and ultrasound, which can't visualize muscle activity and show discharge magnitude on the skin. This project introduces a new imaging technology using electrochromic materials on the skin to display muscle activity, aiding precise stimulation in FES for improved accuracy and effectiveness.
